My name is Luis Manuel, although most people call me Luma.
I am a researcher and educator specializing in conversation analysis (CA), an interdisciplinary approach to the study of everyday interaction, and its applications to language and communication research. I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the UCLA Department of Family Medicine, where I use conversation analysis to examine communication in healthcare settings and develop interaction-informed assessments of research workflows and practices. I hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and an MA in Linguistics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP).
